early morning walking

The further we get into the summer the earlier I take my morning walk. The past few days (since I wake up with leg cramps anyway) I've been going at 6:30. Today there were hot air balloons.

I think the museum is so pretty.

From here you can see the flatirons . They look close, but they're actually thirty minutes away. Also, that's the back of our house on the right—the red one.

boulder fairy parade

We almost forgot about the fairy parade today in Boulder! We were planting in the garden, when Zoe reminded us! Abi and Tori came with us at the last minute, and it was a great time -totally disorganized, great weather, beautiful tulips, very Boulder. ;-)

What do I mean by very Boulder? Well, for starters it was a fairy parade. Complete with grown women, dressed up as fairies, with whom the kids posed for pictures, while they dispensed advise on organic gardening. No one seemed sure where the parade began, though some knew where it ended, and everyone chatted with one another about the confusion.

Along the way there were street performers. Today's performers were two pairs of pre-teens. The first pair played string instruments beautifully. They had a sign which said they were raising money for music lessons. The next pair had a giant wooden xylophone, about 7 feet long, and each played one end. Their sign said they were raising money to go to South America.

The tulips were in full bloom, the sun was shining, altogether lovely. When the crowd meandered around between some buildings we followed everyone into a chic hotel, through a very cool looking, open lobby. There was a huge crowd in the conference room on the left, trying to read Peter Pan to the dozens of fairy children sitting in an enormous circle. Outside nothing was going on, but everyone appeared happy and talkative, just taking pictures and enjoying the view of the Flatirons.

Very Boulder :-)

72 degrees

For about, I don't know, 10 days now (?), it's been really warm here in the Front Range. Yesterday and today, in fact, have felt like 72 in the sunshine. It's so incredible, I feel like we live in Arizona right now. Well, winter in Arizona anyway :-)

Since we live in a new development the trees are not anywhere near mature yet, so we open up this tent in our front yard for the kids to play in and get some shade from the intense sun. Just a little while ago I added their "egg chair" (which spins all the way around BTW - so fun!) because the wind was blowing the tent away. I thought they looked so beautiful inside, eating their apples, I just had to take some pictures :-) Love, Kelly

Early in the Morning

This morning Zoe and Ashley woke up at 6:30, which is very early for them. We piled on our robes and slippers, and headed downstairs. Within minutes the sun began to rise. We pressed our noses up against the cold glass and looked though the window in awe. This is what we saw.

Even though Cherry, our Boston Terrier, wears a down coat, her behind gets cold after her first morning walk. For this reason we have been turning on our heating pad, where she sits after she gets inside to warm her rear-end. How funny is that?
